She has a somewhat unique technique in which she paints transparent layers of oil over Ampersand Claybord. She travels all over the state via motorhome to paint en plein air–or on location outdoors.
A few weeks ago she forgot her brushes when visiting KahNeeTa to paint, so she made due with a BUTTER Knife! We’ll have to ask her how that went when we see her at the festival. Sometime new tools can bring an entirely new insight to an artist.
VanLonden’s work can be seen year round at ModPod downtown and in Art Guild outings, but the festival will offer her a chance to show a wider range of works all at once.
To see more of Pam’s work, including some Kah-ne-ta paintings that may be from her butter knife series, visit her website.

OK. I better paint some more butter-knife works…I’ve only done the one so far. They take so long to dry. See you soon.
…could be a whole new marketing angle. (smile)
