Wrap-up Party 1

Thanks to Belle Vallee Cellars Wine Tasting Room and Patio and Roxy Dawgs, we had a very nice afternoon being thankful for another good festival year. We celebrated the key volunteers who spend a good portion of the year planning and coordinating the festival over a swell picnic lunch. This year families were invited to come share in the thanks and we were happy to get such a good number there.

The wet weather even held off a bit giving us a couple hours of dry on an otherwise wet day.

Another Thing we Love about the Festival

2011 Fall Festival

East Circle at 2011 Fall Festival

Ahhh, a warm fall afternoon with plenty to see, do, sample, eat, drink and listen to… and these happy people are just sitting and relaxing and taking it all in. It’s a little hard to see but don’t see a single electronic device in play…

If our event can provide an excuse to just cut loose and sit on the grass for a bit, well, then we like that very much.

Thanks to Joe Becker for this photo.

Fall Festival Best in Show Winner

Best Booth Winner Micki Voorhies

Micki Voorhies, 2011 Bonnie Hall Best in Show Winner

Happy to announce some of our weekend award winners. Micki Voorhies won our Bonnie Hall Best in Show Award for excellence in her artwork and display. She has been featured on Oregon Art Beat, –where you can find out how she can create with those lovely red nails–and is a veteran of the art festival world. This year she brought a paired down, very elegant booth of her signature shoe sculptures. We hope she returns next year with more of her great work.

The Bonnie Hall Best in Show Award is a tribute to former artist, Corvallis Fall Festival Board member and Patron of the Arts, Bonnie Hall. Her botanical prints were a popular item for many years at the festival. The award given each year features one of Bonnie’s last serigraphs, a Brown’s Peony. We were lucky that Jim Hall was on hand to help us deliver the award honoring Bonnie.

At our Fine Art Showcase, Andrew Newell’s piece “The Organist” won the People’s Choice Award. Andrew will be invited to participate in next year’s show again.

Thanks to Rich Walters for these two photos, and many more!

It’s a Wrap

EnvioFuel Oil Pick-up

Pick up barrel for EnvioFuel

It’s not over until the waste oil is picked up…and quite a few other things are returned.

After putting our feet up yesterday evening and patting ourselves on the back, we’ll be back today unloading equipment, making returns, recording data and beginning the task of trying to thank our many, many artists, volunteers and partners. Which reminds us: Thanks to you all for coming and playing with us in Central Park!

Ready for Our Close-up

The first canopy is always the hardest...

Today we’re in the park all day setting up, anticipating your coming to enjoy all that we’ve got to offer Saturday and Sunday. Whether you’re coming to play all day in the Art Zone, find some new art treasures or gifts, discover new digital technologies, listen to music or dance at our Street Dance, or to just stroll the park with friends or family, we hope you DO come and enjoy our beautiful Central Park.

If you enjoy yourself, consider recommending us to others next year. If there are things you think we should do better, feel free to use our Contact Us on our website to share with us just how we might improve something. And if you liked what you saw and would like to be involved helping us next year, we’d love to hear that, too!

Thanks!
From the Board, Committee and Festival Staff

Beaver Spirit R Us

Fall Festival in the OSU New Student Scavenger Hunt

New Student claiming Fall Fest prize in OSU New Student Scavenger Hunt

Yesterday was Slice of Downtown and the New Student Scavenger Hunt downtown. Hundreds of students flowed from campus to downtown in search of goodies, free stuff and to get a feel for their new home for the next 9 months.

Fall Festival helped a few students get in the townie spirit by passing out past festival shirts and letting them know about our Art Party in Central Park. They had to answer easy questions about the festival to earn the freebie, but it was all in good fun. Many winners.

Hope to see a lot of those new Beavs in Central Park this weekend.

Community Stage, Formerly Children’s Stage

The Kindreds come to Fall Festival Community Stage

We have changed the name of our second stage this year. We are now the Community Stage. We are more focused toward families, not just children this year. For our 39th Annual Corvallis Fall Festival, we have a great lineup for you. Check out the website for more detailed info. The biggest excitement for me is that we will close out the festival with The Kindreds! I am so excited to be the new stage manager for the Community Stage this year. I will be there all weekend. Please, stop by and say hi!

It’s beginning to look like Fall Festival…

Something's happening in Central Park this weekend...

The volunteer staking crew of Marcia, Marisa, Kelly (and son) and Steve walked the park with duct tape, mallets and No Parking signs last night. The neighbors got their notices of our take over earlier in the month, so hope Friday set up day goes smoothly without any calls to towing. Nice night for a walk (back and forth and back and forth) in the park. Thanks crew.

Fuzzy photo of part of the staking crew.

Thanks SPONSORS!

While it’s not quite time to roll the credits (look for our big Thank You ad in the Gazette-Times post festival) it is high time we pause and give thanks to our many sponsors. They help us keep our event a FREE Admission festival!

Each year we receive anywhere between $50,000-$75,000 InKind from sponsor partners. Some are big corporations like Comcast and some small like 10 local dental offices that go together to help sponsor the Children’s Art Zone.

Kezi-9 and Comcast even partner together. Kezi creates our television ad spots for us to show all over the mid-Willamette Valley and south. They create an untagged version to go to Comcast for them to show in the Portland and Salem metro areas. Between the two of them ads of our annual art party in little old Corvallis, Oregon is broadcast to thousands of households around the state. Our local paper the G-T helps us produce a beautiful program filled with information about the festival. The law firm of Ringo, Stuber, Ensor and Hadlock has helped us print our posters for many years now and has a great collection of them in their offices.

Even though we received no financial assistance from the City of Corvallis this year, we still are receiving much inkind assistance from Parks and Recreation, the library, public transit, public works and many others. It all ads up to much savings in personnel and equipment rental costs.

Please take a minute to look at the sponsor banners hanging about the festival to see all of our many partners and then DO take the time to thank them next time you are in their business! Here’s a complete listing of sponsors.

Fall Festival This Weekend!

Saturday Night Street Dance

Saturday Night Street Dance

Happy Monday.
A little drizzle this morning will soften up the ground for our No Parking Staking Crew tomorrow night. Let’s hope it’s the last of the moist stuff for the rest of the week.

Today we’re looking forward to the Saturday Night Street Dance with Ty Curtis’ band. It’ll be a warm night and all the happy fans will be pouring out of Reser Stadium after the Beav’s win over UCLA Bruins. Come on Down to Monroe Street, see a little art and then have a glass of wine or a micro brew and celebrate with us. Dance up a storm.

Ty Curtis Band

Ty Curtis Band Plays the Street Dance

FYI, Orquesta Monte Carlo plays our Main Stage Saturday at 4:30 pm and then continues the party down at Squirrel’s Tavern after the Street Dance Closes with a CD release party.

A week from now we’ll be cleaning up and returning things.
