Volunteer with us

Volunteers are the heart of the Corvallis Fall Festival! Your efforts help unite the community in celebrating the arts, and we have a blast making it all happen. Over the weekend and in the days leading up to the festival, we gather with old friends and make new ones. Most shifts are about three hours long, with roles ranging from rewarding physical tasks to important hospitality services for artists and visitors. We would love to have you join us!

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely on our passionate, highly engaged Board of Directors to fulfill our year-round mission to serve, support, and showcase the Corvallis arts community.

We encourage all interested individuals to apply regardless of experience. However, fluency in Spanish, a background in arts education, and/or legal experience is a strong plus!

All Volunteer Positions

Tuesday, Sept. 22

β€œNo Parking” Sign Set-up: Join the group setting up "no parking" signs along the perimeter streets of Central Park. First the signage will be updated at the office with markers & tape, then you will place the signage at designated locations around Central Park. We will provide all the tools necessary: signs, markers, stakes, staple gun and duct tape. This position involves walking several blocks; some heavy lifting & physical exertion may be required to place the sign stakes.

Friday, Sept. 25

Friday Festival Set-up: Transforming Central Park into Corvallis Fall Festival is a collaborative work of magic! This is a great physically active project for people who want a good workout, like to volunteer with a group, and appreciate seeing immediate results of their effort.  This position is all-hands-on-deck to set up canopies, hang banners, and place signage. Will likely require lifting, bending, and possibly climbing ladders or stools. Afternoon volunteers will also have the opportunity to help artists, as needed.

Friday Food Court Set-up: Set-up and help with vendor move-in at the food court area on Monroe Street between 6th & 8th Streets.

Friday Artist Check-In: Friday marks the kick-off of the festivities as we welcome artists to Central Park! The Artist Check-in position is located in the "Gazebo" in the southeast corner of the park, where we greet artists as they arrive. You will locate the artists' packets for them & provide them with their artist lanyards. This is when we confirm their on site contact information & offer to connect them with Booth Sitter volunteers in the afternoons. Additional volunteers will be stationed throughout the park to help them find their booth locations. These first impressions are what keep talented artists coming back to our community, so let's show them our unparalleled Corvallis hospitality!

Friday Artist Assistance & Park Traffic Control: Friendly, helpful neighbors will guide artists through the park & briefly assist them with set-up tasks, as needed. You will check in at the "Gazebo" in the southwest corner of the Central Park where you will be provided with a high-viz vest, a super-official-looking clipboard, and a map that includes the traffic pattern of the park. Most artists will arrive knowing their booth number & you will simply help them find that location in the park; at this time, you will also kindly remind them not to drive on the grass & to unload their vehicle & move it out of the park efficiently before they start setting up their booth.

Saturday & Sunday, Sept. 26 & 27

Art Discovery Zone: A volunteer opportunity that's great for teens! Or art educators. Or parents. Or grandparents. Or anyone who loves kids and art! Guide kids & families through a variety of art projects with us & art educators from The Arts Center. Co-sponsored by our friends at Corvallis Parks & Rec  and The Arts Center! Morning shifts will help set up the Kids Create projects and the last shifts of the day will help tidy and put away the project materials.

Merchandise Sales & Info Booths: Answer general festival questions while organizing & selling commemorative Fall Festival merchandise either in the Gazebo or at the Main Stage. Sales are recorded via Square. Simple on-site training provided. Fun, engaging opportunity to work with a friend or make lots of new ones!

Roaming Festival Docent: Be an ambassador for Corvallis Fall Festival! Festival docents roam the Central Park distributing festival programs, welcoming visitors, assisting patrons with wayfinding, monitoring the cleanliness of the park, and general troubleshooting. This will include providing hospitality & offering brief assistance to artists, as needed. Physical requirements include moving throughout the festival, carrying light supplies, and may include pulling a wagon.

Music & Food Area Attendant: Enjoy Main Stage entertainment while helping to maintain a clean and welcoming environment in the food court and stage area. Volunteers will clear and wipe down tables and provide assistance to the Stage Manager as needed. This position is a great fit for active individuals and music fans who are comfortable in a loud, lively environment. The Saturday Night Street Dance shift is a great opportunity for friends to volunteer together AND get their groove on at the same time!

Recycling & Waste Station Monitor: Help keep Corvallis Fall Festival sustainable and clean! Direct guests place their trash in the correct receptacle & answer general questions. This position is mostly stationary. The festival's waste management program is a collaboration between OSU Materials Management, Scouts of America, & Master Recyclers & is sponsored with a generous donation from Republic Services.

Booth Sitter & Artist Go-fer: Art booth sitters provide short 15-20 minute breaks for our vendor artists mid-day. This is a job for someone who enjoys interacting with the public. Booth sitters should be able to navigate the festival with a booth map, answer questions, stand for short periods of time, and sell artwork if requested. (Some artists may request that the booth sitter fetch their lunch from an on-site vendor so that they may remain in their booth to conduct sales.)

Sunday, Sept. 27

Sunday Artist Assistance & Park Traffic Control: Time to pack up & help direct artists out of the park on Sunday afternoon! Traffic control requires some movement throughout the park. Artist assistance can be a more physically demanding position requiring lifting and bending. Report to the "Gazebo" to receive a high-viz vest & the super-official-looking clipboard with the artist traffic flow map.

Sunday Tear-down & Pack Up: Let's get packing! This is a great way for friends, family and colleagues to volunteer together. Everything that went up on Friday needs to come back down on Sunday: canopies, banners, barricades, tables, chairs, etc. Let's work together to show Central Park the love it deserves for providing this beautiful space for our community event!
